What this is

Cygo is a route planning and roadway information application for cyclists in New Jersey (and, over time, other states). Cygo uses publicly available roadway data to estimate the relative comfort of roads for bicycle travel. By creating an account, signing in, or using Cygo as a guest, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

The most important thing in this document: Cygo's colors, scores, and route summaries are estimates derived from public roadway data. They are not guarantees of safety, suitability, or current conditions. Cygo cannot account for real-time conditions including traffic, crashes, construction, road closures, weather, flooding, debris, potholes, temporary hazards, or the actions of drivers, cyclists, or pedestrians. Riding a bicycle on a public road carries inherent risk regardless of what this app shows. You assume all risks associated with using Cygo and with riding any route displayed or suggested by the application. You are solely responsible for your own route choices, your own judgment of current conditions, and your own compliance with traffic law. Cygo is a planning aid, not a substitute for looking at the actual road in front of you.

Obey the law

You are responsible for obeying all traffic laws, posted signs, traffic signals, roadway closures, and instructions from law enforcement, regardless of information displayed in Cygo.

Who can use Cygo

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Cygo is not directed at children under 13.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account.
You can use core map features (browsing, drawing routes, exporting GPX) as a guest, without an account — guest routes exist only in that browser session.

Data sources and accuracy

Road geometry and bike-infrastructure tags come from OpenStreetMap contributors. Speed limit, shoulder width, lane count, and traffic-volume data come from NJDOT's NJSLD records (and, as other states are added, each state's equivalent public roadway-inventory data). Public roadway datasets may contain omissions, inaccuracies, or outdated information. Cygo does not independently verify every roadway attribute — a posted speed limit can change, a traffic count can be years old, and coverage has real gaps. Where roadway information is unavailable or incomplete, Cygo may provide limited estimates based on available data or may indicate that confidence is reduced. Cygo does its best to surface how confident and how current each fact is, but you should not treat any single data point as definitively accurate.

Your saved routes and content

Routes you draw and save remain yours. You can export any saved route as a GPX file, rename it, or delete it at any time.
By saving a route, you give Cygo permission to store and display it back to you across sessions and devices — we don't use your routes for anything beyond providing the service to you (see the Privacy Policy for the full data-handling picture).
Don't use Cygo to store or transmit anything illegal, and don't attempt to abuse, scrape at scale, or disrupt the service.

Third-party services

Cygo relies on infrastructure providers to operate — Supabase (database and authentication) and Cloudflare (hosting and map data delivery), and, if you choose to use them, Google or Apple sign-in. Your use of those sign-in options is also subject to Google's and Apple's own terms. Full detail on what each provider handles is in the Privacy Policy.

No warranty

Cygo is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) any warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its data is accurate, complete, or current. Cygo does not warrant that any route is the safest, shortest, or most appropriate route for your ride. You use Cygo, and any route you ride based on information from Cygo, entirely at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cygo's creator is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from your use of the app, including from riding a route Cygo displayed, scored, or suggested. This includes, without limitation, injury from road conditions, traffic, weather, or any inaccuracy or gap in the underlying map or roadway data. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, this limitation applies only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time, in-app, under Profile → Delete account. This is immediate and cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what gets deleted.

Changes to Cygo or these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes (for example, as new states' data is added). If a change is material, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, notify signed-in users in-app. Continuing to use Cygo after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
